Upgrade the factory pin box on your fifth-wheel trailer to this cushioned model that dampens road shock and reduces back-and-forth chucking for a more relaxed towing experience. Unlike air bags, the internal rubber spring requires no maintenance.
Features:
Specs:
Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to. And because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an internal air bag like some other upgraded pin boxes, there's no maintenance required.
Although this pin box can tow up to 24,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 11,501 lbs or less. A rubber spring built for 18,000-lb trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 11,500-lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 11,500-lb trailers would be too flexible for a 18,000-lb trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 11,501-lb or less range.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert Rhino pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old Lippert pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by the factory pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.
Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look together at this MORyde cushion fifth wheel pin box. Now this is going to replace your Lippert rhino pin box that you have installed on your fifth wheel trailer. And this is going to give you a much smoother ride. And the way that this is going to do that is with its internal rubber shear spring.
Now this component that attaches to your trailer is somewhat loosely connected to the component that has the kingpin here that's going to slide into your hitch. They are kind of interlocked, but they're still free moving. So that internal rubber shear spring in here is going to be dampening any motion between these two components. So you're not going to have as much of that jarring motion at your connection points as you have with your original pin box. Now this is going to help reduce that back and forth chucking that you often get when you're towing.
It's going to help dampen road shock so that any road shock that the trailer experiences isn't going to be transferred to your cab and vice versa. So this is going to be a lot more comfortable for you. You're not going to have to worry about those stop and start jerks that you normally have to deal with when you're towing. And these glide pads that you see here are go are built into this MORyde pin box to allow the skid plate to shift up to three inches forward and backward and about an inch and a half side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so you don't feel it in your cab. Now although this pin box can tow up to 24,000 pounds, the internal rubber shear springing is optimized for trailers that range from 11,501 pounds or less GVWR, maximum loaded weight.
So to get the best results from this cushion pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer that's in the 11,501 pound or less GVWR range. Now this is going to be a bolt-on installation with the included hardware that you see there. No drilling is going to be required and the kingpin is going to sit in the same location as your kingpin, instructions are included to guide you through the installation process, but I do wanna give you a heads up that this is a very heavy item. I needed two other guys to help me get this on my table just to make sure that we we inchesre safely moving and lifting this. So you will want a a couple of friends to help you lift this into place during installation.
But once you have the the included hardware securely bolted down to spec, you're gonna be ready to go. Well, that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Great product, Perfect Fit at a Good Price
5th Wheel rides much better with no chucking since installing the MoRyde Pin Box
Direct replacement for what was origanlly installed by mfg.
Fantastic king pin hitch, installed in less than one hour with two people. MorRyde is the only way to go for me.
I changed out the Rhino pin box with the MORryde cushioned pin box. Wow… What a difference, smoother starts, stops and bumpy roads were so much smoother. 100% better ride quality.
The price was good. Customer service was great. Shipping and tracking was excellent.
Dramatically reduced chucking as hoped. There is more start/stop slop than I had expected but I'm guessing that is due to my trailer being at the top of the weight rating for the rubber block. I need to put a camera on it to verify my theory. All in all a huge improvement.
Briele was very helpful making sure I received the correct pin box, it was delivered 4 days before the estimated delivery date. Install took about 30 minutes. Great experience with etrailer
We used to have a lot of slop with our hitch and that has lessened immensely since our purchase of the MORryde pin box.
No chucking with this pin box! Noticeable improvement when towing my 17k trailer. Replaced a GenY gooseneck that cushened vertical movement but didn't do anything for horizontal movement.
I just picked up my GD Reflection 324 today after getting the new pin box installed. Honestly, I don't know why all fifth wheels don't come with this installed (other than it would cost the manufacturer more to add it at the factory). On my '24 F250, all of the shaking and jerking was gone, with the exception of a very bad rail crossing with a torn up railbed. We're planning on a spring break trip next week with the grandkids and it will be much more relaxing getting there.
Perfect fit , I’m traveling this weekend and the trailer feels amazing
Not to difficult of an install. Took a bit of research to find out the torque specs for the hardware I had. Took it for a short test ride. Will know more in two weeks when we take the trailer for the first trip with the cushioned box.
The Morryde rubberized pin box made a world of difference in the ride we get now! Highly recommended !
We have gone over 2000 miles and the MoRyde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box fot the Lippert Rhino and it works great!! What a difference it made in pulling my 5th wheel trailer!! It was the best investment I made for my 5th Wheel !! Easy to install if you’re handy! I would highly recommend this product!!
The Moryde pin box exceeded my expectations on eliminating chucking over the factory Rotaflex pin box. When Braking or accelerating our 16,000 lb Montana all the banging noise from the pin box is gone, making an Improved ride in the cab. Note it does seem to benefit from the larger low friction lube plate verses the smaller friction plate the Rotaflex pin box utilized.
So far very nice. I was able to install it myself using my pickup bed,a small hydraulic car jack, and a big I made. The whole process of removing old and installing new took about 45 minutes. Everything lined up beautifully. Hooking up to receiver was standard. Took a 10 mile test run. Not disappointed.
This is the first thing I would ever buy For any fifth wheel that I have. There is a big difference with this system. It saves on your truck, fifth wheel and your passengers when traveling down the road. I have installed it and the spring of 2026. You can install it by yourself as long as you’re a little mechanically inclined and can squat a little bit of weight. Have hauled the fifth wheeler to three different camping locations and have not had an issue. It takes away all the clunking and vibration. Looking forward to hauling it to Yellowstone. I highly recommend this!
Customer service was very helpful in tracking down my order. They said they were going to call me back when they found out some more information. They called back within the hour. Very happy with etrailer Customer service
I replaced my rhino pinbox on my 5th wheel with the morryde pinbox. I had this on my other trailer and it worked great. This setup works just as good as before.
I installed this today on my Grand Design Reflection 303. Talking with rep they recommend the 1621HD. I kinda think I should have gotten the lighter unit. My 303 GVWR is 11995 lbs. the HD is good heavier units.
I still helps, I towed it today and I noticed some improvement. I would consider getting the lighter unit if I had it to do again.
This pin box arrived on time and the box was in very good condition. The freight company used their lift gate to put the pallet into the bed of my pickup. That made it possible for this 63 year old to uninstall the old and install the new single handedly.
My main complaint with the old pin box was chucking. I’ve now towed more than a thousand miles with the Morryde. While the chucking has improved it has not been eliminated. I would say it has been reduced about 50%. Bridge abutments are less harsh. Concrete roadway gallop much improved. A significant improvement but not what I had hoped for based on other reviews.
We recently purchased a new camper from an individual who had added a gooseneck adapter. We purchased the MORryde cushioned pin box and took it with us when we picked up the camper - we changed it out in the driveway in about one hour. The ride home was very smooth. We have some rough bridge transitions in our area and the MORryde handled them with ease.
I have had this pin box before on other campers and loved it so when we got our new camper this was the first upgrade that I wanted.
A tip to an easy install, lock it in your hitch first then back it right into your camper. I shored up the head with a 2x4.
Well, upon receipt of the package ,which was all ripped up, and all the bolts, nuts and washers had came out of the bag and a rubber hole plug missing, everything else seems to be in order. I have not installed yet, therefore the 4stars.
Quality products, no problem swapping out OEM Lippert Rhino Box for MORryde cushioned hitch. Even upgraded "pin plate" in order to attach Andersen hitch. Not towing camper until 1 August, so I can not comment on hitch capability. Before upgrade, towed camper about 30 miles from dealer to campsite w/ original Andersen set up, a little to much "hitching" and bumping. That's why I upgraded to the Morryde cushioned hitch. Still trying to figure out optimal location to install hitch ball connect/disconnect handle.

Well, 1 year and I’m definitely happy with the pinbox. It definitely improves starting and stopping in traffic. No more banging and it relieves stress on the fifth wheel.
